Convivencia means coexistence and conviviality. The word is tied to the Andalusian utopia of Saracen, Jewish and Christian cultures living together harmoniously for a short period of time. Instead of limiting itself to historical documentation, La Mandragore has created a vibrant and passionate homage to cultural cross-fertilization, experienced through medieval melodies and original compositions. Textures, sonorities and languages become mixed together, from Italian to Arabic, through French and Ladino.The nay merges with the traverso, the ud sings along with the cittern, the darbukas join in with the palmas. The result is a concert that is at times festive, at times melancholic, but always filled with joie de vivre and hope.
